Most US tax and information returns are prepared on a set-fee basis, which is agreed with the client before we begin work.
Our minimum base fee for the Form 1040 is £850 plus VAT. The base fee varies according to the overall complexity of the return.
Please note that this covers only a relatively simple situation with one taxpayer with a straightforward employment and minor investment income, including the necessary foreign income exclusion and/or tax credit forms for an expat. It does not include the FBAR, if required, which starts at £185 for up to four accounts.
As an illustration: for a taxpayer and spouse, both in employment, with non-trivial capital gains and investment income (subject only to US tax), and a rental property in Florida, our fees would be at least £1,250 to £1,500 plus VAT.
Our fees for the Form 5471 required for a foreign corporation start at £1,075 plus VAT.
If you moved from the US to the UK or vice versa in the year, our fees will generally be at least £1,300 to £1,600 plus VAT including a part-year state return.
Our fees for a non-resident Form 1040NR start at £1,275 plus VAT.
